Instructions for Loading Data into Charts in Omega Research Products
In order to use the data supplied with the system you have either downloaded or purchased
from the System Traders Club you must either Create a new chart window, or change an
existing chart window to use the new data.
When you run the exe that you received the files
for the system will be put in your Omega folder on your hardrive in the STC subfolder.
Each system that you purchase from the System Traders Club will have it's own folder
within the STC folder. This is the " Path " which you will enter in the directory window
as described below.
Understanding the Create Chart Window Dialog
The Create Chart Window dialog presents a list of symbols you can plot on your chart. The
Show section of the Create Chart Window dialog has three radio buttons: Server Portfolio,
Directory, and Custom Data List. You use these radio buttons to choose the source of the data you
want to plot. In order to use the Trader Club Data, you will choose Directory.
Using the Directory List to Plot a Chart
These steps assume you have created a chart window and that the Create Chart Window dialog
is onscreen. Use the following steps to plot a chart:
1. Click the Directory List radio button (if it is not already selected).
2. Since you are using daily data in a ASCII format
you can add the directory containing the data you want to plot by clicking the New
Dir button to produce the New Directory dialog. In the Directory edit box, type
c:\omega\stc\xxxx, where xxx represents the folder containing the data for the system
which you want to use and select Ascii format for the data.
Or, you can have TradeStation scan your hard drive for the data you want to plot by
selecting Ascii data and clicking the Scan button to produce the Select Drive
dialog; then type in the C: drive for TradeStation to search for the selected data
type, and click OK to begin the scan.
Use the drop-down Directory List to choose the directory STC and then the subdirectory
containing the symbol you want to plot. This produces the list of symbols in that
directory. If you did not install the data and system to the default directory , you
will have to browse for the path where you installed the files and choose that folder.
3. Click the symbol you want to plot. This highlights the symbol. There should only be one
symbol in the folder, unless you manually overrode the defaults and installed data in a
different folder.
Tip: You can double-click the selected symbol to immediately chart the selected symbol.
Double-clicking bypasses the next step.
4. Click the Plot button. TradeStation creates your chart by plotting the symbol you have
chosen. |
