Who is Chuck Le Beau?

Chuck Le Beau

Charles LeBeau is a highly respected futures industry professional with over 40 years of trading experience. He is presently Director of Trading for Tan LeBeau, LLC a hedge fund management company.

Chuck is co-author of a best selling book on futures trading entitled Computer Analysis of the Futures Market (McGraw Hill, 1992). This highly acclaimed book has been translated into six languages and is now considered a classic text on how to use technical indicators. Chuck is presently hard at work on two new books.

In addition to trading, writing, and doing futures research Chuck has appeared as a featured speaker at numerous futures seminars throughout the world and has frequently been a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California where he teaches fundamental and technical analysis to graduate students in the MBA program. He has been a paid consultant to several financial institutions as well as many individual futures traders and has trained interbank currency traders for the Bank of China in Beijing and for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority in the United Arab Emirates. Along with Dr. Van Tharp of Market Wizards fame Chuck teaches an Advanced System Development Workshop at Tharp's International Institute of Trading Mastery in North Carolina.

Chuck was formerly a registered Commodity Trading Advisor and served on the National Futures Association Business Conduct Committee from its inception in 1983 until 1994 when he was appointed to the National Hearing Committee. He is also an NFA arbitrator and sometimes serves as an expert witness in futures and options cases. (Among his noteworthy cases he was an expert for the prosecution in the famous Billionaire Boys Club murder trials several years ago.)

Chuck first became interested in trading while he was a student at California State University - Long Beach where he studied investments with professors Richard Teweles and Charles Harlow who authored several popular books on futures and stock trading in the 1960s. After graduation with a degree in finance in 1963 Chuck was drafted into military service during the Viet Nam era and served as an officer in the U.S. Army. Prior to becoming a CTA and president of Island View Financial Group, Inc., Chuck was Vice President and Regional Futures Director at E.F. Hutton and Company.

Chuck founded the System Traders Club in February, 1998 as a means of exchanging ideas and communicating with traders who have an interest in systematic trading strategies.
